LITTLE DOWNHAM LOCAL HISTORY COMMUNITY ARCHIVE.
Little Downham was one of the villages which pioneered the Commanet online archive in Cambridgeshire, which grew into the CCAN project which you have just accessed. The LHAG evolved from the volunteers concerned with this project; setting it up made us all aware how much local history was held only in the memories of a sadly diminishing number of local people.
The group holds regular open days, usually the first Monday morning of the month, opening our growing collection of donated memorabilia to local people in the hope that they will be able to add their own personal memories triggered by the exhibits, and even to make their own donations.
Additionally, we have held themed events, each focusing on one particular aspect of our history. Through these efforts we seek to provide a resource to enable both long established families and the most recent incomer, to belong, be their stay months or generations.
